Scheduled admissions

If you have to be admitted to hospital, the Admissions Unit will organise the time and day and instruct you on any specific preparation you must make.

We recommend you bring someone with you. Having the collaboration of a family member or friend is important as they can help you with any basic needs which you are unable to carry out by yourself.

Emergency admission

If you have gone to our emergency department, it may happen that the doctor who visits you decides that you should be admitted to the hospital.In this case, the Admissions unit will help you organize your hospital stay.

Remember to bring with you the necessary documentation to be treated at the emergency service

Where to go

For a scheduled admission, you must go (normally between 08:00 and 08:30 a.m.) to the Admissions Service counter, in the main lobby of the hospital

If you are being admitted for a scheduled surgical procedure, please follow the instructions that will hace been goiiven to you during your pre-operation visits. 

Once the admission has been organized, the staff on the hospitalization ward will inform you of your room number; they will explain the safety regulations and help you organize the details of your stay.

Which documents must I bring whit me

  • Referral letter.
  • Information on any medication you might be taking at the moment
  • The results of any test that you may have undergone outside the hospital
  • Your ID documents and healthcare card 
  • Card from your insurance company, if the admission is a result of a sports, workplace or traffic accident.

To apply for sick leave

Patients with Spanish social security

  • In the case of sick leave due to a common illness, your GP will sign the paperwork for the time you will need to take off.
  • In the case of a workplace accident, the Hospital specialists will sign the paperwork.

Patients with French social security

  • The Hospital's physicians will sign the paperwork for both common illnesses and accidents

Practical information prior to admission

If you are coming to stay in hospital either overnight or as a day patient, please bring with you: a pyjama or nightgown, robe, slippers, a change of clothing, toiletries and a towel.

Do not bring with you any jewellery or valuable objects. If you need us to take care of any personal items, please contact the Customer Service Unit (Unitat d'Atenció a l'Usuari).

The use of the TV set in your room is free of charge, but in order to not disturb other patients, you must use earphones (not provided by the Hospital) when watching TV 

Visiting hours are from 8 to 20. The main door will be open only to leave between 8 pm and 9 pm. We advise you limit the number of visits to 1 person at a time. Children under 12 years of age should not visit hospitalizen patients.

What happens if I have to change the date of my scheduled admission?

If you need to change or cancel your appointment, please contact us by email us at adm@hcerdanya.eu or calling +34 972 657 777 

It is important that you communicate any changes or cancellations as soon as possible, so that we can admit another patient instead.

Important

If you are being admitted for surgery, please advise the Admissions Unit of any change in your condition (fever, general malaise, pregnancy...)
